What an incredible way to end the official season. For all the athletes and parents who came down to support those racing, thank you very much! It was incredible to see so many members from the Sabercat XC Family at State.
Let's recap the day.
With the honor of unveiling our new uniforms, the girls took to the course first. Showing our preparation and commitment to the race plan, the girls stayed disciplined the first mile considering the very fast opening mile. Running for each other over the last two miles, the girls took care of business and finished with the best placement in school history - 11th. Starting off the scoring was Neev Lev receiving All-State Honorable Mention status (just one place outside of 2nd Team) in 15th place with Ciara Baker in 45th, Ava King in 82nd, Sloan Wilson in 90th, Reese Plummer in 105th, Caroline Mello in 111th, and Viv Mann in 127th. A fantastic end to an impressive season!
The boys took to the course as the last race of the day. These 7 boys put on a masterclass for how to run the State course. With a team score of 19th at the 1 mile, many probably stopped paying attention to any Castle View runner. These doubters would be proven quite wrong as over the next 2 miles the boys would work there way up to 9th place as a team (they were still only in 15th place at the 2 mile!). Starting off the wave of red stripped white singlets was Christian Alley (35th) followed by Luke Bartunek in 48th, Nathaniel Bartunek in 65th, Jacob Kinne in 67th, Liam Kissell in 76th, Matthew Higgs in 84th, and Rylan Frueh in 98th.
Both the Girls and Boys teams left Norris Penrose knowing they gave everything they could. What a great season!
