First off, a BIG Thank You! to all the athletes and parents who came down on Thursday to cheer on those racing Regionals. I know it means a lot to have such great support.
Regionals is a race that can have two different meanings depending on the type of team. For many, it is likely the last race of the season and you hope to advance to State. For a select few teams, Regionals is just a step along the way to State. The boys and Girls squads firmly supplanted themselves amongst this select group of teams who expect to race the last Saturday in October.
Taking to the historic MVP course first was the Boys team. Showing their patience over the first mile, the Boys took care of business the last 2.1 miles and walked away with a strong 3rd place finish. Christian Alley Started the scoring with a 5th place finish and an individual State Qualifying spot along with Luke Bartunek in 13th place. Showing our great depth, we put 6 runners in the top 30 (Nathaniel Bartunek in 19th, Liam Kissell in 24th, Matthew Higgs in 25th, and Jacob Kinne in 28th). For those with an eye on the future, things certainly look good as we were the first team with all 9 runners across the line thanks to the Sophomore trio of Jacob Gibbs (41st), Noah Morine (43rd), and Rylan Frueh (44th).
Next up was the Girls Team. With a similar business like demeanor the Girls easily qualified for State in the 3rd spot. Again we had two athletes in individual qualifying positions as Neev Lev was 8th followed closely by Ciara Baker in 13th. Ava King (20th), Reese Plummer (23rd), and Caroline Mello (27th) closed out the scoring positions all in the top 30. Viv Mann (34th), Sloan Wilson (37th), Teagan Van Slyke (53rd), and Ashley Reuer (60th) made sure we were the second team to have all 9 runners across the line!
