I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday! As we come to the end of our two week break from practices, I want to share with you our outline for our distance track group going forward.
Training for this week will be posted shortly
Banquet
In the poll we posted a few weeks ago, you all voted overwhelming in favor of an outdoor banquet at the MAC. Obviously we are currently in "Level Red" for COVID restrictions in Douglas county, which limits outdoor gatherings at 10, so the plan for that banquet has been put on hold. We have everything ready to go (awards, letters, etc.) but are waiting until we have the OK from the county to have a gathering large enough. Considering that there were 0 votes for a virtual banquet, we figured that's not really an option people are interested in.
Our fingers are crossed for January, but obviously we are the mercy of county rules.
Winter Track
November 30- Dec 18:
This will be a free 3 week block where athletes can will begin training for the outdoor track season. As an off-season sport we are virtual until at least Wed Dec/2, which is when they are making their next announcement about restrictions. We hope to resume training as a team during this block, but there is a chance this entire portion will need to be virtual.
Dec 19.- Jan 3rd:
Winter Break: No Practice. All training will continue to be posted on the blog, and athletes are highly encouraged to continue running during this time.
Jan 4th- Feb 29th
We will be meeting as an official off-season track club which we are calling "Pine Cliff TC". Similarly to summer, there will be a $100 fee and we will meet 5 days a week. There will be a series of track meets that we will use these few months to train for (we're hoping some indoor, but we also have some outdoor meets on the calendar). These 2 months will also be open to middle school athletes so if you have younger siblings interested in running, they are encouraged to join us.
Please stay tuned to remind for updates on in-person practices
