The most important piece of equipment for a runner is shoes. A good pair of shoes can not only make running more comfortable, but they can also prevent injury and promote good running form. It is therefore essential to invest in a good pair of running shoes. Choosing the right pair of shoes can be difficult, but it is much easier with the help of a knowledgeable salesperson. You should make sure that you get a gait analysis when purchasing your first pair of running shoes and probably at least yearly afterwards. Typically, runners need a new pair of shoes every season (including summer conditioning.) So if you haven't purchased new shoes since the beginning of summer, you are probably due! Spikes are recommended for races. These are lightweight shoes that make runners feel quicker and more competitive. The easiest way to make sure you're all set for the season is to come to our shoe night at Boulder Running Company in Greenwood Village on Tuesday the 18th. There will be free pizza and all runners will receive a 20% discount on all shoes and running gear. Come by after practice! Most will arrive between 6:00 and 7:00, but if you need to come a little earlier or later, that's fine! If you need a ride, please let Coach Kuhn know. The address is: 8545 Arapahoe Road, Unit C Greenwood Village, CO 80112 |
