Meet Recaps
Another week down and another great pair of showings for Castle View in Colorado Springs!
On Friday we competed in the Coursers Invitational at the El Pomar Sports Complex. The girls finished fourth overall, led by a 19th place finish from Vivian Mann. Ava King (24th), Sophie Burden (29th), Liv Clarke (31st) and Sloan Wilson (32nd) rounded out scoring for the ladies.
The boys also finished fourth as a team... identical placements for our boys' and girls' teams have been a trend this season. Blake Royer led all individual performances with his 13th place showing, followed by a charging pack of Jenner Davis (19th), Luke Bartunek (21st), Nathaniel Bartunek (22nd), and Jacob Gibbs (24th.)
On Saturday we took to Rampart's "Fox and Hound" invitational. This meet featured a unique starting format in which a team's #7 runner began the race with their opponents #7's, their 6's with the other teams' 6's, and so forth. The waves were separated by 20 seconds allowing the faster runners to catch the slower ones.
Brenna Jorde started things off with a bang, catching and passing the entire field en route to her overall victory. She was followed by a barrage of CV runners that included Neev Lev (3rd), Ciara Baker (4th), Brenna Wendell (6th) and Reese Plummer (11th). The boys built on that performance by executing the clean sweep, placing the first 6 runners across the finish. Matthew Higgs took the win followed by Parker Graham, Holden Ripp, Christian Alley, Kellen Scott, and TJ Frueh, with Austin Zenyuh rounding things out with a 10th place finish.
The sea of red in the finishing chute prompted the meet announcer to ask, "if there were any other teams even racing?" Congrats to everyone on a fun weekend of races; now let's get focused on this next month of championship racing that is upon us!

End of season information
For all CVXC newcomers, we want to offer an overview on our end of season procedures.
The League Meet will be on October 13th. This will be our most important full team race, and everyone (Varsity, JV, and Open) will be expected to compete. After Leagues we will announce the 10 boys and girls who have been selected to our regional roster (9 racers + 1 alternate). For everyone else, the season is over. However, you are welcome to continue working out with the team if you choose (especially for those running NXR.)
After regionals we will select the 8 athletes on our state roster (7 racers + 1 alternate). Following the week of state, we will continue training for another 3 weeks leading up to NXR. These practices will technically be optional but are highly encouraged for everyone traveling with us to Arizona. From thanksgiving break through December, there will be no practices, but optional training will be posted on the blog after our two-week break from running.
We will resume team practices during our winter track season on the first week of January (which we hope to see you all at!)
