The orders for cross country gear we placed in the summer are due to arrive this week. For those of you who were not in on that round of orders, we have reopened the online store until this Friday the 26th. Orders will arrive in early September. You do not need to buy anything unless you are a female runner hoping to race on the varsity team. If you fall in that category, you should order a pair of shorts to race in. The red t-shirts are designed for parents wanting to wear team gear to meets and should only be purchased for parents because the athletes will receive similar shirts during the season.

Spike Night
In order to prevent injuries for the season and make sure athletes are fitted in comfortable, durable shoes for the season, it is strongly recommended that all athletes purchase a new pair of running shoes from a run specialty store at the start of the season. (No, Nike Frees are not good running shoes for a cross country season!) It is recommended that running shoes be replaced every 300-500 miles, so even if you purchased shoes at the start of the summer, it is time to buy new ones. It is also recommended, but not required that athletes purchase a pair of racing flats for the season to provide a good, lightweight race shoe.
On Tuesday, Runner's Roost in Lone Tree will open its doors to our team, by providing pizza and discounts for our athletes while fitting them with great shoes. Athletes that need new shoes should come up to Lone Tree after practice on Tuesday to make sure they are properly outfitted for the season. This is a very easy and fun to get this important task completed.
Address for Runner's Roost: 9994 Commons St., Ste. 23 Lone Tree, CO 80124

Transportation: Due to a shortage of drivers in the district, we do not have a large bus for this meet, but we do have a small white bus and parents and upperclassmen driving. Thanks in advance to Mike Rees, Christine Green, Nola DeKeyrel, and Brice Bohrer for volunteering to help drive. Please plan to be at school a little before 2pm on Friday. Coach Cook will drive back students that do not have rides to school.
Saturday Practice will take place at CV at 8:30am. Please Plan accordingly.
Fundraising
Thank you for those parents that have helped us already with our SNAP fundraising. So far, we have had a very successful fundraiser and some very generous donors! Parents, please check in with your athletes to make sure they have sent out their twenty emails. This is a very easy way to earn the money our team needs to compete this season.
King Soopers Cards- This is another very easy way to support our team and has no out of pocket expenses for anyone. Just buy a card with a $5 balance from our team, load money onto it and use it for purchases at King Soopers and Loaf and Jug. For more information, look at the info page or email Brenda McKinney.
Next Week
Due to some last minute changes, next week's meet will be the Washington Park Invitational on Friday September 2 (Not the Saturday as originally planned). There will be no return bus from this meet. Please contact Coach Cook if you have questions.
Parent Volunteers
Brenda is looking for some parent volunteers to help out with a few more tasks this season. Please follow this link to sign up and help support our athletes.
