In light of the recent tragic events affecting our community, Monday's practice will be a time to come together and enjoy being around our teammates. As such, if an athlete does not feel ready to attend practice yet, the absence will be excused. The coaching staff is here to help in anyway that we can.
A few important upcoming dates to put on your calendar:
- Parent Meeting - Thursday, August 11th at 6:00 pm in the CV Library
- CV/DC Duel - Saturday, August 13th at 8:00 am at Castle View
- Spike Night - Tuesday, August 16th at 5:45-7:00 pm at RNK Running in Castle Rock
Team Communication
Team Website - The team website should be the first place you turn to for information regarding the team. Here you will find the weekly practice schedule, meet schedule, team photos, offseason training, NXR information, and pretty much anything else you might need to know. So, please explore the website and make sure to bookmark the team website!
Team Remind - We use the Remind app for quick team announcements, for athletes to message coaches, and for parents to message coaches. Make sure you sign up for the team Remind by texting @cvxcd to 81010, downloading the Remind app and joining the CV XC/Distance 2022 classroom, or using the following link: https://www.remind.com/join/cvxcd

Gear/Equipment needed for XC
Cross Country does not require a lot of gear, however, there are a few items that are required.
- Water Bottle - it is hot at 3:15 pm in the fall in Colorado and yo will need to stay hydrated at practice. It is also important to hydrate throughout the day to get the most out of practice
- Quality Running Shoes - A football player wouldn't use a wore out helmet for fear of injury. Worn out running shoes are no difference and will cause overuse injuries. We have partnered with RNK Running in Castle Rock and our athletes receive a 15% discount throughout the season. You can also get a 15% discount at any Runners Roost throughout Colorado. (Coach Lyons and Coach Marshall have 10+ years of running store experience combined so please reach out to them for help with shoes!)
- Running Watch - You need a basketball to play basketball. You need a running watch to run cross country! You don't need anything fancy, just something with a stopwatch feature. Here are two great options from Timex: Larger face size; Smaller face size
- Weather Appropriate Athletic Clothing - We experience everything during the cross country season, so make sure your athletes has, hot (shorts, t-shirt, tank top, etc.) and cold (long sleeve shirt, light jacket, gloves, hat, athletic pants, etc.) weather gear.

This Weeks Meet
CV/DC Duel Pancake Breakfast Sign-up Genius
CV DC Duel (Scrimmage)
Co-ed 2-mile starts at 8:00 am.
We are hosting the Second Annual CV/DC Duel Saturday at Castle View! This is an official team event and is required of all athletes on the team.
The 2-mile course will allow those who trained over summer to test their fitness while allowing those new to the sport to start off their career with a shorter race than the usual 5k.
The race begins at 8:00 am and all athletes need to be at CV by 7:00 am.
This year we are going to do a pancake breakfast after the duel with DC in order to celebrate the summer and the upcoming season. More information will be coming on the breakfast. Parents, if you would like to help out with the breakfast or with the other parent volunteer opportunities, please fill out the Google Form linked below.
