We hope you all had an enjoyable and restful Thanksgiving holiday. In this post we are outlining everything you need to know about the next few months of running. Please read this in its entirety and reach out to coaches about any questions you have.
Running Plan
Those who ran NXR are approaching the end of our standard 2 week post-season break, which means that for those doing winter track it's almost time to start running again!
As a reminder we will not be meeting formally as a group for the month of December and our 8-week winter conditioning program will begin first week of January. However, if you are planning on doing winter track you should be running on your own for the month of December. We have posted December training, and captains will organize after school runs.
- For those who want to start running again now: Start with 20-30 min easy runs w/ strides tomorrow (Nov. 30th)
- For those who want their full 2 week break: Start with December training next Monday
- For those who want more than the 2 week break: Reach out to a coach and we will work with you on an alternative plan
If you are playing a winter sport but want to continue on a modified training schedule, please reach out to a coach and we'll work with you on an individual plan.
December Training
Here's the doc with all of the training for the month of December: December Training
There's only one group for training, but the daily range of mileage is pretty big. If you end up being less consistent over this month, don't jump back in the big runs right away. Work yourself back up gradually with the lower end of the mileage ranges.
Winter Conditioning
The winter track sign-up link has been fixed: MySchoolBucks - Product
Please make sure you are all cleared to go before the first practice on January 3rd. As a reminder, you must sign up for this camp (not the general track one). It will be almost identical to our summer conditioning camp: same amount of weeks and dates, similar style of training, and same "pre-season" focus.
Winter conditioning is a time that athletes have a chance to take their abilities, friendships, and love of the sport to the next level. Text your friends and teammates that might be on the fence about doing it... off-season stuff is more fun when we have a big group. We hope to see you all there!
Indoor Track
In conjunction with our winter conditioning program, we will also be competing as a club in a few indoor track meets. The main three that we will be targeting as a group are:
Jan 14th @ Colorado Mines
Feb 4th @ Air Force Academy
Feb 18th @ UCCS
Athletes are welcome to compete in the other meets taking place around the state if the primary meet don't work, or if they want more racing opportunities. Those meets are listed here:
Jan 7th @ UCCS
Jan 19th @ Mines
Jan 21st @ Western University (Gunnison)
Jan 26th @ Mines
Feb 2nd @ Mines
Feb 11th @ Heritage HS (Outdoor)
Feb 25th @ Heritage HS (Outdoor)
We look forward to seeing you all again in a few weeks!
